Penfolds  Grange

Varietal: Shiraz Blend
Region: South Australia
Vintage Tasted: 2001
Parings: Steak and lots of it, Lamb, Hot Sausage, Salmon

FatGuys Rating: Five-Fish

Tasting Notes:
A teenager, far too young to realize its potential.  Ruby in color with a nose of dark fruit, chocolate, caramel and spice.  Tannic yet balanced acidity provides a long subtle finish.

Best to decant prior to pouring.  This wine can be enjoyed now but will cellar for years to come.  FatGuys have tried this year on several occasions, the first time in 2006, just after it's release.  Most recently, in 2011 at ten years of age.  It's just starting to come of age and will provide great enjoyment for many years to come.
